Final Creative Project

8th Grade Ancient History Scholars'
Final Creative Project
(Students were challenged to create a visual project to use in presenting the information from their research to their classmates. They had to come up with creative solutions to the # 1 Rule - they could not purchase materials! Have you ever seen an Acropolis modeled in cake?)

I created the Acropolis out of cake!!! The Acropolis is in Athens can be split into two words, -acro meaning high and -polis meaning city. Construction started in 438BC and there is not an exact time that it was finished. Most of the buildings on the Acropolis were finished under the rule of Pericles' in the 5th century. More buildings were added by Romans after they conquered Greece. On my cake I made 4 main buildings of the Acropolis... The Parthenon is the main building of the Acropolis and built to honor Athena. Work on it began in 447BC and cost 469 silver talents to build. It was finished in 432BC. The second building is the Erechtheion. It was built from 421-406. It was dedicated to Athena and Poseidon. It is found very beautiful and the porch is held up by Muses. The third building is the Temple of Nike. It is by the entrance and is the earliest fully iconic temple on the Acropolis. It was built around 420 BC. The fourth and final building is the Propylaea and it is the entrance to the Acropolis.
